Stéphane Labbé

Stéphane Labbé studied pure and applied sciences, and then design in Québec City. After touring internationally as a dancer with Up with People (UWP), he embarked on a BFA with a major in contemporary dance at Concordia University and completed his training as a dancer at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal in June 2002. He danced in Jacques Languirand’s musical theatre production of Man inc., featuring choreography designed by Laurence Lemieux. In 2004, after working as a volunteer for a year within the organization, he joined the Tangente team as production manager. In 2006, the duties of assistant to the program director were added to his responsibilities. From 2010 to 2013, he shared joint responsibilities for overall management and artistic direction with Dena Davida. Stéphane sat on the board of directors of La Danse sur les routes du Québec and the dance company Mandala Sitù. He served as president of the Chantier Relève disciplinaire: continuité et mutations during the Grands Chantiers de la danse – Seconds États généraux de la danse professionnelle du Québec, held by the Regroupement québécois de la danse in April 2009.
