John Blouin

During his literature studies, John Blouin became a projectionist at the NFB. There, he founded Cabina Obscura, film performances melding projections with a live soundtrack. Using this technique, he produced films, including Filmstripe, which is at the heart of a trilogy about the death of filmmaking. He was the film producer on the documentary Vaillancourt: Isn’t It Beautiful. John is currently working on RAGE, an art installation combining analog and digital technology. He is an independent media and digital art commissioner and a founding member of EXEcentrer, a nomadic organization. In 2020, he garnered the Artist of the Year Award from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).
